Beltane – Origins & Rituals

Beltane in the Southern Hemisphere

Date: October 31 – November 1

Northern Hemisphere Date: April 30 – May 1

🌸 What is Beltane?

Beltane (pronounced “BELL-tayn”) is one of the eight pagan festivals on the Wheel of the Year, marking the height of Spring and the sacred union between Earth and Sky, Goddess and God, feminine and masculine energies. It celebrates fertility, vitality, passion, and life’s return in full bloom.

For witches, pagans, and nature-based practitioners, Beltane is a time of fire, love, and creation — a season to honour life’s sensual side and to manifest abundance.

🌍 Origins of Beltane

Beltane originated among the ancient Celts of Ireland, Scotland, and Britain, who celebrated it as a pastoral fire festival. Cattle were driven between two sacred bonfires for protection and fertility, while people lit torches to rekindle their home hearths from the sacred flame.

The name Beltane derives from the god Bel (or Belenus), meaning “bright one,” and “tene,” meaning “fire.” Together, it represents “Bright Fire.”

In modern witchcraft, Beltane sits opposite Samhain on the Wheel of the Year — where Samhain honours death and release, Beltane celebrates life and desire.

🌺 Beltane in the Southern Hemisphere

In the Southern Hemisphere, Beltane is celebrated from October 31st to November 1st, when the land bursts into blossom and warm days return. This is the fertility season — a time to plant intentions, nurture love, and celebrate sensuality and joy.

Those in the Northern Hemisphere observe Beltane from April 30th to May 1st, as Spring reaches its peak there.

I want it to match the triple moon chart layout (without the flowers of course) the background and logo will stay the layout of the circles and glyphs is what will change Pasted text(1).txt Document i like the outer ring of the free chart, its more just the layout of the glyphs. here is the code snippet for the free chart. I will send the correct image of the triple moon chart e2a49737-98ac-40d6-a6a5-15c9c527e4ca.png Yes — this is the correct reference, and now the difference is very clear. Keep the free chart’s existing outer navy zodiac ring. What I want to copy from this Triple Moon wheel is the interior geometry: Planet glyphs sit in the wide outer interior band, rather than being squeezed right against the zodiac ring. The house-number circle is substantially smaller, creating a clear separation between planets and houses. Planet glyphs are larger and much easier to read. The glyphs have room to breathe instead of appearing like tiny symbols around the perimeter. The aspect lines remain confined mainly to the central house/aspect area. ASC and MC sit cleanly in the planetary band. The radial house/division lines extend outward through the glyph area, like this chart. We retain the free chart's KJAHLI ASTROLOGY logo in the centre — the Triple Moon wheel doesn't have it, but yours will. No flowers, no Triple Moon artwork, no change to the free chart background. So essentially: Free chart outer ring + centre branding + calculations combined with Triple Moon interior circle/glyph/house layout. That will make a huge difference to the readability without changing the identity of your free chart. I have the free-generator code you supplied, so the next job is modifying only its SVG wheel-rendering section, not rebuilding the generator. ok Good. I’ve now located the exact buildWheel(data) section. The current glyphs are being placed at radius 192, then pushed inward by 32 pixels when placements are close; the houses/aspects use a different set of radii. That is the part that needs rebuilding to achieve the Triple Moon layout. I’ll keep the existing outer ring, colours and KJAHLI centre exactly as they are, and change the interior circle proportions and glyph-placement system to match the reference. I have enough now to make the change. ok Done. I’ve changed the actual free-generator snippet so the outer zodiac ring remains as it is, while the inside uses the wider Triple Moon-style glyph band, smaller house/aspect area, larger glyphs and cleaner ASC/MC placement. The existing chart calculations and centre KJAHLI branding are retained. Download the updated full code snippet Replace the current snippet with this version and test your own chart first.
